Man shot near Sarasota boat ramp. The shooter was arrested nearby, cops say

A 46-year-old Sarasota man is in custody after he shot another man near the Centennial Park boat ramps at 1059 N. Tamiami Trail, according to Sarasota police.

At about 4:30 p.m.Monday, officers responded to a report of a shooting and made contact with a manwho had a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Police say immediately after the shooting, officers made contact with Kurt Jacobsen during a traffic stop near North Tamiami Trail and Ninth Street and took him into custody without incident.

Detectives say that Jacobsen and the victim were in “some type of dispute, which led to the shooting.”
