Shooting at Bradenton apartment complex leaves one injured, cops say

One person was shot and injured when gunfire erupted at a Bradenton apartment complex on Sunday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred at The Venue at Lockwood apartments, 5385 30th St. E.

According to an incident report, a deputy at a nearby Walmart on 53rd Avenue East heard gunfire that sounded as if it was coming from somewhere near Sam’s Club across the roadway to the south.

It wasn’t long after the deputy heard the shots and started to respond that several 911 calls were made. The exact time of the shooting was not listed, however, deputies say at least two separate residences were hit by bullets, including the home of the person who was shot.

The shooting victim was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and legs. His condition was unknown Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office is not releasing a lot of details at this time. Sheriff’s spokesman Randy Warren would only say that the “Investigation is ongoing.”

The motive behind the shooting was unknown at this time, but the sheriff’s office is investigating it at this time as an attempted murder case.
