He was found sleeping on a couch. What sat on the table in front of him landed him prison time
Daniel Kendricks was asleep on a couch in the garage when Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a search of the residence.
What they found just a few feet away resulted in prison time for the 46-year-old Bradenton man.
Prosecutors say that on Oct. 17, 2016, a loaded gun was discovered on a table next to the couch that Kendricks had been sleeping on. He later confessed to possessing the gun, according to court documents.
Kendricks was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm after a bench trial on Oct. 31, 2017. He was also ordered to forfeit the firearm.
U.S. Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez announced Wednesday that Kendricks has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. It was a part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program that aims to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer.
