Troopers will be out looking for drunken drivers this weekend

Going out in Manatee County this weekend? Make a plan to have a sober driver, as troopers will be out looking for drunken drivers.

Florida Highway Patrol’s DUI Wolfpack Operation will start 9 p.m. Saturday and continue through 5 a.m. Sunday in Manatee County. The goal is to remove drunken and impaired drivers from the roads to increase safety for other drivers.

Troopers will be mobile and monitoring traffic, focusing their attention on Interstate 75, along with other major state and county roadways.

Wolfpack operations also will take place this weekend in Sarasota, Desoto, Hardee and Highlands counties, the FHP announced.

In Florida, a driver with .08 or higher blood-alcohol content is considered to be impaired by law. Drivers under the age of 21 with a BAC of .02 percent or higher are also in violation of the law.

To report an aggressive driver or receive roadside assistance, dial *347 to contact FHP.
