Teacher sent nude photos to teen she met playing Xbox, police say

A Haines City High School teacher was arrested after officers say she sent photos of herself and had explicit conversations with a teenaged boy she met playing Xbox.

Robin Dunlap, 27, of Winter Haven, told Winter Haven police she sent nude photos to a 15-year-old boy in Texas, who told her he was 19, before she learned his real age.

According to police, Dunlap said the boy told her he was 19 during conversations over Xbox One that eventually moved to a texting and video chat application, Kik.

The boy’s mother checked his phone, “realized what was happening,” and reached out to Dunlap using the phone to explain that her son was, in fact, 15, according to police.

Dunlap turned herself in to police on Aug. 18 after learning the boy’s age. But the conversations didn’t end, police said.

On Oct. 29, the boy’s father told detectives Dunlap was still talking to his son online through Google Hangouts. Officials were able to determine — with the help of Texas investigators — there were multiple conversations between Dunlap and the boy on his cell phone even after she discovered he was 15, according to Winter Haven police.

Detectives went to Dunlap’s home on Dec. 17 to confront her with the new information. She did not deny the conversations occurred and told investigators the boy is “the only person that she can talk to and the only one that understands her,” police said in a news release.

Investigators looked through her phone and found a conversation with the Texas boy that started on Nov. 26 and continued through Dec. 11 that included sexually explicit language, police said.

Dunlap was arrested on charges of transmitting material harmful to a minor and using two-way communication to commit a felony. She was booked into the Polk County jail.
