Shot breaking into a Florida home, intruder died weeks later, police say

Clearwater Police Department

A man who was shot after breaking into a Clearwater home has died from his wounds weeks later, according to police.

William Kahle, 31, of Clearwater, was shot Nov. 30 after breaking into a home in the 1500 block of Cleveland Street, Clearwater police said in a release. He was taken to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg in critical condition, where he had been since the incident occurred.

Sunday, Kahle died from his injuries, police reported Monday morning.

No charges were planned against the resident who shot Kahle at the time of the incident, police previously said.

The resident, Kurt Baima, told Spectrum Bay News 9 his heart was still racing hours after the shooting. He had been sleeping in that day, since he had the day off from work, when a loud noise woke him up.

WFLA News Channel 8 reported when the shooting occurred that Baima said he shot Kahle in the torso.
