Deputies search for armed man involved in gas station robbery
Deputies are searching for a man they say is responsible for an armed robbery at a Gibsonton gas station early Wednesday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 3:45 a.m. the man, wearing a mask and hood, rode into the parking lot of Murphy’s Gas Station, at 9023 Gibsonton Dr., on a bright green mountain bike, deputies said.
The man entered the gas station and pointed a silver handgun at the clerk. He demanded the clerk put all the money from the register in a bag the suspect brought with him.
He then fled the scene on the bicycle with an undisclosed amount of cash, deputies said.
The clerk was not harmed in the incident.
The man is described to have a thin build and was last seen wearing a gray hooded jacket, khaki pants and black sneakers with a gray mask.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
