Mexican man convicted for entering the US again after being deported twice

A Mexican man who had been deported twice has been convicted of illegally reentering the U.S. for a second time, Acting United States Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow announced Thursday.

Noe Blas-Jahuey, 30, was indicted on May 19, 2016, and faces up to 10 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for March 9, 2018.

Prosecutors say Blas-Jahuey had been deported twice in 2013 — once in August and again in December, but he reentered the country. Court records say Blas-Jahuey was caught when he was arrested on an aggravated assault charge in Pinellas County.

Blas-Jahuey had previously been convicted for illegal reentry into the country. The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
