Florida woman stalked her ex, put a GPS tracker on his car, reports say

She didn’t just happen to be in the same places. Rather, deputies say a Florida woman was using a GPS tracking device to stalk her ex-boyfriend, according to reports.

For about two months, a man told the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office that his ex-girlfriend would show up where he was, according to Local 10 News. The man never told her his location.

It started Sept. 18, when he was visiting a friend in Altamonte Springs. Erica Capps, his ex-girlfriend, sent him a text message saying he should go outside. When he went outside, Capps yelled at him because he was at a woman’s house, according to WFTV.

One month later, the man was at another friend’s home and Capps once again showed up and started arguing, Local 10 News reported. Capps also showed up at two stores where the man was, even following him to a friend’s home.

He also told authorities Capps would send him screenshots of his location and ask why he was there, WFTV reported.

“That caused him a significant amount of distress and then ultimately he was able to check his vehicle and discovered that a tracking device had actually been put on it,” Seminole County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Bob Kealing told WFTV.

Capps was charged with stalking Friday and bonded out of jail. A judge ordered her to have no contact with her ex-boyfriend, according to Local 10 News.

“And that’s all going to be dropped because it’s a big misunderstanding. We’re actually going through a custody battle, so that was definitely misconstrued by somebody, hence why I am no longer in jail at this time,” Capps told Local 10 News. “That’s all I have to say at this time, so that’s the story.”
