Investigation underway after deputies respond to shooting on Lockwood Ridge Road

An investigation is underway after deputies responded to reports of a shooting Thursday night on North Lockwood Ridge Road, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

At 8:19 p.m., deputies were called to the 4100 block of North Lockwood Ridge Road and found a shooting victim on the side of the road, according to a news release. The victim was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

The shooter was being questioned as of 9:30 p.m. by detectives with the Criminal Investigations Section, according to Lt. Debra Kiner. The sheriff’s office would not release additional information.

“All parties involved in the incident are accounted for and there is no threat to the public,” the news release said.
