He told the manager he was having a ‘bad night’ before he robbed the store. His next day was even worse, cops say
A man in a white hoodie walked into the store and began to ramble about his life. He told the employees that a stomach cancer diagnosis gave him just six months to live. He was having what he called a “bad night.”
Then Troy Sullivan pulled a knife and made sure they had a bad night, too.
Palmetto police say Sullivan, 31, committed armed robbery of Domino’s Pizza, 1022 Eighth Ave. W., around 8:27 p.m. Monday. After pulling the knife, he demanded cash from the store’s register and safe.
The manager handed over the money, and Sullivan got away with $403, according to an arrest report. The Manatee County Sheriff Office’s K9 unit was unable to track Sullivan. However, he was located the next day at a home in the 500 block of 12th Street West.
Sullivan was reportedly wearing clothing similar to what was seen on the suspect in a surveillance video that captured the incident. He said he didn’t remember what happened during an interview with detectives and is no longer in possession of the stolen money, authorities said.
Palmetto police say a witness positively identified Sullivan in a photo lineup as the man who robbed the store.
Sullivan was recently released from jail after being arrested for theft on Sept. 18. He is charged with armed robbery and being held without bond.
