He was a guard at the federal prison in Miami. Now, he’ll do time in federal prison

After Miami federal prison guard Damon Coleman used his workplace like a pickup bar, Coleman will spend some time behind bars.

Coleman, 48, received an eight-month federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of a ward, the legal term for a guard having sex with an inmate in his custody.

Coleman’s admission of guilt says at 5:15 a.m., June 3, 2016, while working in a female inmates section of the Miami Federal Detention Center, he had sex in the cell of an inmate documents identify as “E.C.” “E.C.” was housed alone while awaiting sentencing.

Even 19 days later, after another inmate told officials of Coleman’s sex, DNA testing of a blanket revealed Coleman’s semen and E.C.’s body fluids.

A seacrh of records reveals no prior criminal record for Coleman.
