Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a man who slammed into a car, leaving its driver in critical condition, and fled the scene in St. Petersburg on Tuesday morning.

Around 10:38 a.m., the 62-year-old driver of a Hyundai Accent was traveling southbound on 49th Street North when she made a left turn onto 46th Avenue North and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound. The crash was captured on video.

Video footage depicts the Hyundai being smashed into a utility pole on the corner of the street. The driver of what appears to be a gold 2002 Lexus ES300 did not exit his vehicle to inspect damage but fled the scene about 20 seconds after the initial impact.

The Lexus was last seen traveling westbound on 46th Avenue North, according to FHP.
