An inmate at Manatee County Jail hanged himself the same day he was arrested for violating probation. He died four days later.

Spencer Cavey was discovered on Nov. 8 hanging from his bed at the Manatee County jail with a sheet around his neck, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. He was then taken to the hospital, where he died Sunday.

Officials say that Cavey, who was the only person being held in his cell, did not leave a note. The sheriff’s office will conduct a further investigation into his death.

Cavey, 30, was convicted of petite theft in June 2015 and placed on 36 months of probation. In February 2016, Cavey violated his probation for the first time and served less than two weeks of jail time.

However, Cavey violated probation once more and was arrested on Nov. 8. He attempted suicide later that day, according to the sheriff’s office.
