Molestation suspect turns himself in, sheriff says

A man wanted in connection to the molestation of a teenage girl has turned himself in.

Thomas Basone, 47, was wanted on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation and harassing a victim in connection with the molestation of a 13-year-old girl in June, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday. The victim is known to Basone.

At 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, the sheriff’s office announced Basone turned himself in to authorities and was charged accordingly.

The sheriff’s office began the investigation after receiving information about the alleged incident on Oct. 6. A warrant for Basone’s arrest was issued Nov. 3.
