Man shot in shoulder, eye during attempted robbery

A man was hospitalized late Sunday after being shot during an attempted robbery.

The man and two others were sitting in a car in the 600 block of 33rd Ave. Drive E. around 11:45 p.m. when two or three suspects walked up to the car, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

“Give us everything you got,” the suspects said, according to the sheriff’s office.

When the victim said that they didn’t have anything to give, one of the suspects took out a gun and fired it twice into the car. The bullets hit the victim’s left shoulder and right eye, the sheriff’s office reported.

The suspects fled in a car and the victim was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital. The sheriff’s office didn’t provide descriptions of the suspects or the getaway car.
