When Clearwater police received reports of an unconscious driver Friday morning around 5:37 a.m., they discovered the vehicle creeping through an intersection.

Once the driver caught wind of the police beginning to make contact with him, he rammed his car into two police cruisers and sped off, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

The officers were injured and began to pursue the vehicle. The Clearwater Police Department said it used the PIT maneuver — where officers use their cruisers to tap the rear side of a car, causing it to spin out — to stop the vehicle at 132nd Avenue and 119 Street.

One suspect was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

No other information was immediately available. The case is under further investigation.
