Man says he was shot. Cops are still looking for evidence of what he says happened
A man said he was struck by a bullet, but deputies found no evidence of a shooting.
At 2 p.m. Wednesday, a 19-year-old man told deputies he was being dropped off in the area of 25th Street East and Third Avenue East in Palmetto when he heard gunshots, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
The man said he was struck by a bullet in his left arm and was taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
But no evidence was found when deputies began investigating the area where the man said the shooting occurred, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Just because we didn’t find anything doesn’t mean it didn’t happen there, it just means we didn’t find anything,” Dave Bristow, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said.
The investigation is ongoing.
If anyone has any information on the incident, they can call the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011.
