A Fort Lauderdale man’s decision to wake up and rob a bank may have been the least surprising decision he made that day.

Alexander H. Sperber, 25, told FBI agents that he woke up Tuesday morning, “decided to rob a bank, flee by running naked down the street while throwing the money stolen during the bank robbery to people, in order to begin his career as a comedian,” the FBI told the Sun-Sentinel.

Sperber parked his car outside a Regions Bank branch in Fort Lauderdale and went inside shortly after 3 p.m. He pointed his finger in the shape of a gun at the teller, claimed he had a gun and threatened the teller, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The teller put about $4,700 in a bag along with a red dye pack.

As Sperber left the bank, the dye pack exploded, turning the money, Sperber’s clothes and a cast on his wrist red, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

With the dye on his clothes, Sperber stripped down and went running down Las Olas Boulevard, throwing his newly stolen cash. The colorful bills were scattered on the ground in his wake, according to WSVN, Miami.

Sperber was arrested, wrapped in a yellow tarp, and charged with one count of bank robbery. He was taken to the hospital where doctors said he was “conscious, coherent and uninjured,” according to the Sun-Sentinel.
