Officer shot in pursuit of robbery suspect
One person is dead and a Jacksonville Sheriff’s officer was shot after a search for a robbery suspect Tuesday, according to reports.
Officials were looking for the robbery suspect and found him around 4:30 p.m. in a vehicle also believed to be involved in the robberies, according to WFLA.
The man was seen getting out of the car and getting into another with a woman driver, WFLA reported.
When officials tried to stop them, she took off and a short chase ensued when shots were fired, according to WFLA.
One officer was shot in the chin and taken to the hospital, but was able to sit up and communicate with others, according to WFLA.
The suspect, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at a hospital, WFLA reported.
