Bradenton man says neighbor hit by bullet ricochet
Police cars swarmed the intersection of 10th Street West and 21st Avenue West Wednesday afternoon as investigators handled what police called a shooting with minor injury.
Scanner communications indicated police were called to the 2100 block of 10th Street West. A home was taped off by officers, and forensic investigators arrived at the scene shortly after.
Officials confirmed they were dealing with a minor shooting injury but did provide additional details.
Ronnie Peeler, who lives on the 10th Street West, said a man drove a vehicle onto his yard while he was outside with his children, and Peeler and the man began to argue. The driver went inside a neighboring home, retrieved a pistol, and when a neighbor came outside to see “what was going on,” Peeler said the man shot at the neighbor.
“He caught a ricochet in the foot,” Peeler said.
Peeler claims the man who pulled into his yard just moved into the area a few months ago.
One ambulance was on scene with police. A man yelled out to a crowd of onlookers as he was loaded into the ambulance: “He didn’t even hit me.”
When someone asked if he was alright, the man shouted back: “I’m fine. He ain’t gonna be.”
The incident is under investigation.
