Sarasota man facing drug trafficking charge after meth found in car
Deputies say a Sarasota man had nearly 10 grams of methamphetamine in his car and now faces a drug trafficking charge. But he wasn’t the only one arrested.
Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Beneva and Meridale roads in Sarasota around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. While searching the vehicle, officials found Oxycodone in the center console and a lock box under the seat that had drug paraphernalia and nearly 10 grams of meth inside, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, 44-year-old Edward Jimenez, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell and possession of narcotic equipment, according to the sheriff’s office. He was released on an $8,000 bond Wednesday.
Deputies also searched the passenger in the vehicle, David Langford, 60, and found a pipe, meth and various prescription pills. He also admitted the pills found in the center console were his, according to the sheriff’s office.
Langford is charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of narcotic equipment, according to the sheriff’s office. He remained in the Sarasota County Jail on a $6,500 bond.
