Police looking for Sarasota man wanted for selling fentanyl
Sarasota police arrested 15 people during a Warrant Round-Up operation, which targeted Sarasota citizens who sell illegal controlled substances such as fentanyl and carfentanil. But they’re looking for one more person on their list.
Khalid Polk, 25, of Sarasota, is being sought by police for sale of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than heroin.
He has prior arrests in Manatee and Sarasota counties, including charges of resisting arrest, possession of cocaine and driving while license suspended.
In 2016, he pleaded no contest to aggravated domestic battery in Manatee County and was sentenced to 14 months in prison, according to court documents, but he violated his probation by not reporting to his probation officer, changing his address without the officer’s consent and being charged with sale of fentanyl in Sarasota in January.
Those arrested were mainly from Sarasota, with one exception from Arcadia, and range in age from 19 to 62. Their collective charges included selling cocaine, spice, marijuana near churches, schools, parks and public housing; possessing LSD; or driving with a suspended license.
According to Sarasota Police, the 15 suspects have 269 prior felony charges and 317 prior misdemeanor charges.
“We’re working hard to keep the City of Sarasota a safe place to live, work and play,” Captain Corinne Stannish, Sarasota Police Criminal Investigations Division, said in a press release. “We will continue our efforts to end drug dealing in the City of Sarasota. We’re not going to give up.”
Anyone with information on Polk can contact the Sarasota Police Department’s Narcotics Unit at 941-954-7009.
