She was pulled over for improper backing, but now she’s facing felony drug charges
A woman who was seen driving in reverse down a Sarasota street is now facing felony drug charges.
Sarasota police were called to a report of shots fired in the area of 29th Street and Goodrich Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, when an officer noticed a silver 2007 Saturn being driven in reverse down the street, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The officer performed a traffic stop on the vehicle for improper backing along Goodrich Avenue, according to the affidavit. When the driver, Summer Lemieux, 26, of Sarasota, was why she was driving in reverse, Lemieux responded, “what, what?”
She was ordered to pull over and officers noticed a marijuana on the dashboard in plain view, according to police.
A search of the vehicle found 126.9 grams of marijuana, three grams of cocaine, suspected hardened THC oil, prescription pills, a pipe with marijuana in it, weight scales and other drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Lemieux was charged with possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, all felony charges. She was also cited for improper backing, Sarasota police said.
