DUI operation to patrol streets during holiday weekend

The Wolfpack will be out in full force this holiday weekend, hoping to prevent drunk driving mistakes.

The Florida Highway Patrol’s DUI Wolfpack Operation will start 9 p.m. Saturday and run through 5 a.m. Sunday in Manatee, Sarasota, Desoto, Hardee and Highlands counties.

The purpose of the operation is to increase roadway safety and take intoxicated drivers off the roadways before causing any potential damage. The focus will be on Interstate 75 and major state and county roads.

It’s illegal to drive with a .08 or higher blood alcohol content for drivers 21 and up, and .02 or higher for drivers under the age of 21.

Anyone who wants to report an impaired driver or needs help on the roads can contact FHP by dialing *347.
