Police investigating after shots fired in Sarasota

Police are investigating after shots were fired in Sarasota, and there may be a connection to an incident in Manatee County.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. between 32nd and 33rd streets along North Washington Boulevard (U.S. 301), according to Sarasota police.

A white Toyota Camry, 2015 model or newer, with graphite rims and dark windows, and a gold Chevrolet Malibu, 2012 model or newer, with dark windows were traveling east on 32nd Street with at least two men in each car who started shooting at each other, according to police.

The vehicles continued to travel, crossing North Washington Boulevard and going into a business parking lot where more shots were fired before both vehicles left the area, according to police.

The same vehicles may have been involved in an incident in Manatee County as well, police said.

No one was struck, police said, but a business was hit by bullets.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sarasota Police Department at 941-316-1199.
