Father of 9 killed on Father’s Day after trying to break up an argument

A father of nine children celebrating his birthday just before Father’s Day was shot and killed after trying to break up an argument, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Alexis Osmick had just turned 39 and was celebrating Saturday night at a house in the 3000 block of Pioneer Road in Pine Hills, according to News 6 in Orlando. Around 3:11 a.m. Sunday, Osmick was trying to intervene with a fight and was shot, Osmick’s cousin told News 6. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center but was pronounced dead.

According to News 6, the alleged shooter was on scene when deputies arrived.

“We do have an individual who is cooperating with law enforcement and who has identified himself as the person who did shoot the victim,” said Jeff Williamson, a public information officer with the sheriff’s office, during a press conference.

No arrests had been made as of Sunday.
