After re-tracing her steps, police are attempting to identify a man who allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old girl last month.

St. Petersburg police released an image of the suspect based on a partial description provided to them by the victim.

According to police, the girl’s mother called to report her daughter as a runaway at 12:48 a.m. on May 27. She told police her daughter was last seen at 8:50 p.m. the night before at her home.

Police were unable to find the girl. That is, until a call came in a few hours later.

At 4:26 a.m. police got a call about a young woman, later found to be the missing teen, found dazed and walking on 22nd Avenue South near 12th Street.

Because of injuries to her face and jaw, the girl couldn’t speak to detectives, though having been beaten and possibly sexually assaulted, according to police.

Detectives, after going back through the events of that night, found surveillance video and pursued leads, according to police.

DNA evidence test results are pending.
