Police investigate double homicide

Two people were shot to death early Thursday, according to St. Petersburg police.

About 1:47 a.m., officers responding to reports of gunfire in the 6400 block of 22nd Street South found the victims, a police spokesman said.

A man died at the scene, and a woman, who was in the driver’s seat, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where she died a short time later.

A police spokesman said investigators have received information that a dark-colored Toyota Camry was seen speeding from the area after the shooting.
