Two men and teen facing charges after deputies find them in stolen car
Less than a week after three others were arrested for similar crimes in Venice, two St. Petersburg men and a teen are facing charges in connection to a vehicle burglary, officials announced Friday.
Steven Fields, 24, Bryant Daniels, 19, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested Thursday after they were found by detectives in a stolen car, according to a release from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives conducting surveillance around noon Thursday in the area of 25th Street and Lemon Avenue saw the vehicle parked where other stolen cars have been reportedly recovered in the past few months, the release stated.
After running the license plate number, it was discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Indian Shores.
Deputies, assisted by the Sarasota Police Department, spoke with the driver, Fields, and passengers Daniels and the teen.
An investigation revealed they were able to gain access to the vehicle after it was left unlocked and a spare key was found in the glove compartment, the release stated.
While they were taking the three into custody, deputies found 13 Acetaminophen and Oxycodone pills in Field’s pocket, according to the release.
Fields is charged with vehicle theft and possession of a controlled substance and is being held on a $3,000 bond in the Sarasota County Jail.
Daniels and the 16-year-old were each charged with trespassing. The teen was released to the Department of Juvenile Justice while Daniels is being held on a $120 bond.
