Bradenton man stopped for window tint violation arrested after jars of marijuana found in car
A Bradenton man was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop for a tint violation, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Roger Clinton, 24, was arrested at 7:12 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of 17th Street East, where he lives. According to a report, Clinton was driving a vehicle that was stopped for a tint violation. As officers were exiting their patrol car, Clinton quickly got out of the vehicle and shut his driver’s door. Police said Clinton tried to walk away from his vehicle and the officers, ignoring verbal commands to stop.
According to the report, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from Clinton and his vehicle. Officers tried to detain Clinton, and Clinton’s 4-year-old son crawled to the driver’s door inside the vehicle and opened it. Officers reported seeing a large glass jar filled more than halfway with marijuana. Police said Clinton tried pulling away from officers in an attempt to close the driver’s door.
The window tint turned out to be in violation of Florida law, according to police. According to the report, officers also found two large glass jars filled with marijuana, a black bag filled with loose sandwich bags, a sandwich bag box filled with more sandwich bags and a small black scale.
Clinton was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website. He was being held in Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $2,120.
