Rowing park board of directors to meet Wednesday to discuss video of Paul Blackketter screaming
UNIVERSITY PARK -- Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates Board of Directors will have a special meeting next week as part of the investigation into a video that surfaced of Paul Blackketter, the nonprofit's president, screaming and using multiple expletives.
The SANCA board will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Meadows Community Association, 2004 Longmeadow, Sarasota.
On Sept. 26, a video was posted to YouTube, showing Blackketter in SANCA attire, screaming at a man who is not shown on the video.
In the one-minute video, Blackketter can be heard using profanity at least eight times.
Nathan Benderson Park, a
Sarasota County park, is run by the nonprofit SANCA. Nathan Benderson Park has hosted a number of high-profile events and will host the 2017 World Rowing Championship.
Sarasota County government asked the nonprofit to investigate Blackketter earlier this week after the video surfaced. The board's next scheduled meeting is Nov. 4.
"County administration has sent a letter to SANCA regarding the matter and requested they investigate the incident," Sarasota County said in the statement released this week. "Sarasota County has high standards of excellence for customer service and expects the highest level of professionalism from all those who represent the county, including our contractors and vendors."
SANCA Board of Directors Chairman Bill Robinson said Tuesday afternoon the video was shared with his fellow board members.
"We are treating it with our highest priority," Robinson said. "It's something that we are investigating thoroughly."
