FHP identifies man who died in crash in Lakewood Ranch
A 33-year-old Bradenton man who was killed in a traffic crash in Lakewood Ranch early Thursday has been identified by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Silvio Cayaxon Salazar was involved in the crash reported at 6:02 a.m. on State Road 70 at the intersection with Post Boulevard, near the Premier Sports Campus.
According to a release, a semi-trailer truck driven by a 37-year-old Tampa man was traveling eastbound on State Road 70. Salazar was in a Nissan pickup truck traveling westbound on State Road 70 when he crossed the double yellow center lines into the path of the semi. FHP troopers said the left side of the his vehicle struck the left side of the trailer.
The truck came to a controlled stop on the south shoulder of State Road 70. According to the release, Salazar’s vehicle rotated traveling northwest and came to final rest facing in the southwesterly direction on the north shoulder of State Road 70.
Salazar was transported to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, FHP troopers said.
