Braden River Middle School student has close call with school bus

A Braden River Middle School student fell in the bus area and apparently hit the tire of a bus as it was pulling away Monday afternoon.

The student was not run over but reportedly suffered some apparently minor injuries, Mike Barber, Manatee School District spokesman, confirmed late Monday night.

“Medics checked him and cleared him at the scene, but his parents were going to take him to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for further evaluation,” Barber said in a text message.

Barber had no other information on the accident.
