Southbound I-275 reopened 2 1/2 hours after tractor-trailer jackknifes
The southbound lanes of Interstate 275 in Tampa have been reopened, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The lanes were reopened shortly after 1 p.m. At 10:30 a.m., a flatbed tractor trailer transporting concrete block was traveling southbound on I-275. As the driver approached the Downtown Tampa exit, he shifted to the southbound mainline lanes.
During the lane change, the load of concrete block shifted and caused the tractor trailer to jackknife and hit the guardrail on the west side of the roadway underneath the I-4 overpass.
The driver was not injured in the crash. The load of concrete blocked spilled across the southbound lanes of I-275. Crews are on the scene to recover the vehicle and debris. The I-4 and downtown exits remain open.
