Manatee Sheriff investigating death of man at Port Manatee

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an unconscious man was found Tuesday at Port Manatee and later pronounced dead.

At about 9:30 a.m., deputies responded to a report that someone was unconscious at Port Manatee. Christopher Neely, 33, of Palm Bay, was found next to a semi-truck. Deputies said Neely was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It’s believed Neely fell from the truck and hit his head on the pavement, according to a release.

An autopsy will be performed to determine if Neely suffered a medical ailment before he fell or it was an accidental fall.
