At least one dead in early morning crash near SRQ airport

At least one person is dead after a crash on University Parkway near the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport early this morning, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

Sarasota police reported the crash at 1:25 a.m. via Twitter at University Parkway at the intersection with Bradenton Road near the SRQ airport. All westbound lanes were closed for several hours as a result.

At about 8 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic, according to Sarasota Police Lt. Lori Jaress. The crash involved a single vehicle.
