Paramedics revive unconscious Sarasota woman with 2 young children in vehicle; drug charges filed

A 37-year-old Sarasota woman with two young children was reportedly found unconscious with narcotics in a vehicle at 7:29 p.m. Friday, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 3000 block of Ashton Road to find Veronica Posey in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with the young children in the back seat, according to the report.

Paramedics helped Posey regain consciousness.

Numerous narcotics were observed in the vehicle, according to the report.

The children were uninjured and released to the Department of Children and Family Services.

Posey was charged with driving under the the influence, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of drugs (Tramadol) without a prescription, possession of a controlled substance (Alprazolam, Hydromorphone, amphetamine), possession of crack cocaine and two counts child neglect.

Posey appeared before a judge Saturday morning and is in Sarasota County jail with a $65,000 bond.
