Adopt-a-Palooza will be making a return to Manatee County this August.

The second annual adoption event will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, One Haben Blvd. Palmetto.

“This year’s Adopt-A-Palooza is a one-stop adopt and shop event for residents of Manatee County and surrounding areas,” Manatee County Animal Services chief Sarah Brown said in a news release. “It’s all the riches of our community resources under one roof. It’s a celebration of finding your new best friend and learning how to be a responsible pet owner.”

More than 10 local rescue and animal welfare organizations will be participating in the pet adoption and expo-style event, which is free. All the animals available for adoption will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped, according to the release.

In July, Manatee County Animal Services will launch its first Christmas in July event, a month-long adoption and enrichment drive.

Every Friday in July, the adoption fees will be reduced to $10 plus $15 tag license for Manatee County residents. On July 25, the shelter is asking for donations of unopened products to restore the pet food pantry.

“Christmas in July is held in an effort to encourage the community to visit MCAS and to ease typical summer overcrowding in the shelter,” according to the release.
