Man shoots sister in the buttocks during a fight

A man shot his 18-year-old sister in the buttocks Tuesday night during a fight in a West Little River home.

The mother of his child, who tried to intervene in the fight, was also shot, but in the leg, police said.

The shooting happened at about 8 p.m. Tuesday in a home at 801 NW 83rd Ter.

Police say Kel Payne, 25, who is transient and sometimes lives in the home, came by and got in a fight with his sister.

"At some point he produces a firearm and begins shooting," said Miami-Dade Detective Alvaro Zabaleta.

Payne took off running, but police soon caught him and he was arrested, Zabaleta said.

Both women were taken to the hospital and were recovering.
