Lightning strike kills farm worker in Myakka City

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed by lightning.

The incident took place at 5:10 p.m. Monday at Falkner Farms, 35100 State Road 64, Myakka City, according to a release. Three Falkner Farm hands were loading a truck when a storm developed. Deputies said the three were struck by lightning and transported to a hospital. One of them was pronounced dead at the hospital while the other two were treated and released.

The victim was identified as Fleuridor Kercizan, 47.
