A 44-year-old man was arrested after a several-hour-long standoff with a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.

About 6:40 p.m., the SWAT team responded to “domestic situation” in the 39th Avenue West, Bradenton, according to a news release.

Just before midnight, the sheriff’s office reported that Michael Serratelli, who was alone in the house, had been taken into custody.

During the standoff, sheriff’s units lined 39th Avenue West near the intersection with 14th Street West. About seven people were evacuated from a home across the street from where Serratelli barricaded himself. Shielded deputies escorted them to the office of J.D. Byrider, 3907 14th St. W., Bradenton. Neighbors stood in the parking lot waiting to be allowed back into their homes.

Serratelli is being held without bond at the Manatee County jail, on charges of aggravated assault, domestic battery on person over 65 and resisting arrest without violence.
