Manatee Lost Lagoon Development LLLP of Bradenton submitted the only proposal to construct a water park at Tom Bennett Park in East Manatee. Proposals were due at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

After negotiating with the developers, the county issued another request for proposal for an aquatic and recreation complex. It included the possibility of onsite lodging, which was requested by the developers of Lost Lagoon.

“There is clearly a need for this kind of venue,” William Gridley, spokesman for Lost Lagoon, said last month. “There is a need for this kind of destination.”

There was no discussion of the proposal. The first Evaluation Committee meeting to discuss the details is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday.

In its first proposal, Lost Lagoon proposed more than a dozen rides, including a ropes course, wave pool, lazy rivers and a number of slides on the 20 acres at Bennett Park, 400 Cypress Creek Blvd.
