Lakewood Ranch man, 64, ticketed after four-vehicle crash blocks 53rd Avenue East in Bradenton
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a four-vehicle crash just before noon Tuesday near the intersection of 53rd Avenue East and Ninth Street East by an entrance to Palm Lake Estates, a 55-plus community.
The vehicles involved a Nissan Sentra, followed by a vehicle from Hendrick Honda Bradenton, a gray vehicle and a white van. All vehicles were damaged in the crash.
David Dixon, 64, of Lakewood Ranch was ticketed for careless driving. He drove a 2013 Chevy Express.
Craig Bailey, who drove a vehicle from Hendrick Honda Bradenton, said there was a whole line of traffic before them.
“And all of a sudden, for some reason, it all stopped. I assumed someone was turning on Sixth. ... like a last-minute stop,” Bailey said. “He (driver of the Nissan Sentra) got stopped, and I got stopped and the lady behind me, I’m pretty sure, got stopped. ... that’s what happened.”
The vehicles were later towed by Upman’s Towing Service of Sarasota.
