Woman in Palmetto crash rescued before car bursts into flames

A 23-year-old Parrish woman was seriously injured drove off a road in Palmetto and struck a tree, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

About 12:19 a.m., the woman was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry eastbound on Moccasin Wallow Road west of 115th Avenue East, when she failed to properly negotiate a curve, went off the road and hit a tree. The collision sent the car into a spin before it overturned, according to a FHP report.

After the woman was removed from the car, it burst into flames, according to FHP said.

The woman was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, where she was listed in serious condition.
