Teen driver collides with Sarasota school bus outside Riverview High

A 16-year-old female driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tracker collided with a 2014 yellow Thomas school bus at 2:43 p.m. Thursday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The Tracker was eastbound in the Riverview High School driveway access leading to Lords Avenue where the bus was northbound on Lords Avenue.After stopping at a stop sign, the Tracker crossed Lords Avenue to Hope Street entering the bus driver's lane of travel. The front of the bus struck the right side of the Tracker.

No school children were injured. The teen driver sustained minor injuries, according to FHP, and was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign.
