Boy, 2, drowns in Sarasota swimming pool
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation after the drowning of a 2-year-old boy in his family’s pool.
About 5 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a home in the 3400 block of 24th Circle in Sarasota, after the victim was pulled from the pool, according to a release. The victim’s sister told deputies she was cooking food in the kitchen when two other children in the home found the child unresponsive in the pool. Neighbors assisted with CPR until deputies and paramedics arrived, according to the sheriff’s office.
The child was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and then to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. He was pronounced dead Monday, the sheriff’s office said.
At this time, the sheriff’s office said detectives believe the drowning was accidental.
The investigation is ongoing.
