Women on Wheels Ride sold out in Lakewood Ranch

MANATEE -- The Village Idiots Cycling Club is hosting the fourth annual Women on Wheels Ride in Lakewood Ranch at 7:30 a.m. May 15.

This women only event is free and benefits Safe Place And Rape Crisis Center.

The Women on Wheels Ride is not a race or competition. It is a community gathering of women to take part in a shared adventure supported by the men of the Village Idiots Cycling Club and local business sponsors.

The women riders have the option to ride 40 or 62 miles with a fully supported route with stocked rest stops followed by an after-ride event that includes lunch, massages and gifts.

This years event sold out the day registration opened with 180 riders.

Manatee Village Historical Park closed Mem holiday

MANATEE -- The Manatee Village Historical Park, 1404 Manatee Ave. E., Bradenton, will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday from Saturday, May 28, through Monday, May 30.

The park will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 31.

Manatee Tech reunion planned June 16-17

BRADENTON -- Graduates of Manatee Technical College and its predecessors, Manatee Technical Institute and VoTech, along with instructors and staff members, are invited to return and reconnect during two reunion celebrations June 16-17.

Events sponsored by the Manatee Technical College Alumni Association. Friends of MTC are also invited.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, enjoy Marauders baseball while indulging in a private barbecue buffet on the Party Deck at McKechnie Field.

From 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, mingle with classmates, instructors and staff members during a private reception at IMG Academy Golf Club
