Boy, 15, hurt in bicycle crash in East Manatee

EAST MANATEE -- A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

About 3:45 p.m. Monday, the boy was riding east on Linger Lodge Road, when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with 85th Street Court East, according to a report.

The bicycle struck the right side of a southbound car driven by 24-year-old Bradenton woman, and the bicyclist was thrown to the pavement, FHP said.

The teenager was taken to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, where he was listed in critical condition.
