Expo and Job Fair at MTC on Wednesday

MANATEE -- A Manatee Technical College job fair for Manatee County government will be held from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Positions available range from entry level to management.

Applicants will have the opportunity to meet hiring managers and representatives from various departments, including Manatee County EMS and the 12th Judicial Court.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the campus at 6305 East State Road 70 and talk with college staff to learn about the career preparation programs MTC offers.

FWC reports persistent red tide remains

MANATEE -- The Florida red tide organism, Karenia brevis, persists along Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte counties in Southwest Florida.

In addition, one sample collected offshore of Dixie County in Northwest Florida contained background concentrations of K. brevis.

Fish kills and respiratory irritation were not reported in Southwest Florida over the past week.

Forecasts for Southwest Florida by the USF-FWC Collaboration for Prediction of Red Tides show southern movement of surface waters and southern, onshore movement of bottom waters between Pinellas and Lee counties over the next three days.
